Bone Broth is one of the most unique and powerful superfoods we have today. Although the exact nutritional content may vary, broth made from bones (along with knuckles, joints & cartilage) is a rich source of digestible collagen, and easy-to-absorb minerals.
Bone broth whether it is made from grass-fed beef, or free-range chicken offers numerous health benefits due to its rich nutrient profile and high protein content.
Bone broth soups are valued because they are nutrient-dense, easy to digest, and full of health-restorative goodness! Bone broth’s wide array of nutrients make it exceptional as a tried-and-true remedy across cultures for the sick and weak, or simply anyone wishing to build and fortify.

Benefits of Bone Broth:
Gut Health Support1 2
Bone broth contains glutamic acid (converts to glutamine) and other amino acids that helps maintain and repair the intestinal lining.
The amino acids (including glycine) in bone broth have anti-inflammatory properties that may reduce damage to the gut from inflammatory bowel disease. Without glycine, the body would not be able to repair damaged tissues; the skin would become slack and wounds would never heal.
Better Hydration3 4
The high-water content in bone broth helps you stay hydrated. Water makes up 60-70% of the body and impacts virtually every bodily function (see my blog on Hydration for more).
Bone broth contains electrolytes (especially potassium, sodium & magnesium), which are minerals that support fluid balance in your body and proper hydration.
Joint and Bone Health5
Bone broth is high in collagen (protein) and minerals that help repair joint damage and improve arthritis-related pain.
Bone broth may help reduce joint pain and inflammation due to the collagen.
Skin Health6
Collagen in bone broth can promote smoother, more hydrated skin.
Bone broth may help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and roughness.
Overall Healing5
Provides easily absorbable nutrients that support the body’s healing processes
Bone broth may aid in recovery from illness or injury.
Bone Broth Powder
If making it is not an option for you, consider getting some bone broth powder.
High-quality and tested chicken and beef bone broth powder uses the same parts of the animal that traditional cultures prized. All the benefits of homemade bone broth in powdered form.
By using quality bone broth powder, you are ensured of getting high-quality nutrients from ethically sourced animals while enjoying the convenience and versatility of a powdered form.
This approach makes it easy to incorporate the health benefits of bone broth into your daily routine, enhancing your overall well-being

For a very light but nutrient-packed breakfast, often I make an easy version of Egg Drop Soup. Here is the recipe.

Directions
Heat chicken broth and water on medium heat in a sauce pan. Add bone broth powder and mix it with a whisk for at least 30 seconds to help dissolve the powder.
Increase heat enough to achieve a rolling boil.
Crack eggs, add to the boiling liquid and cook till soft boiled, approximately 30 seconds.
Pour into a wide-mouth cup, sprinkle with herbs and enjoy with a spoon.
